When do you get Feats?
In D&D 2024, feats are gained at specific points in a character's progression:
• Level 1 (Origin Feat): Your Background grants one Origin Feat for free. Humans also gain an additional Origin Feat from their Versatile trait.
• Levels 4, 8, 12, 16, 19 (General Feats): At each Ability Score Improvement level, you may instead take a General Feat (or any Feat for which you qualify). Fighters gain additional slots at levels 6 & 14; Rogues gain an extra slot at level 10.
• Level 19 (Epic Boon): At level 19, instead of a General Feat you gain an Epic Boon Feat.
• Fighting Style Feats are granted by the Fighter, Paladin, and Ranger classes at specific levels — they don't use a feat slot.
Origin Feats granted by backgrounds and races are auto-applied below and do not consume a feat slot.
